Dining

At Hanaya, we offer two different ways to enjoy a meal during your stay.

Breakfast is a seasonal Japanese-style breakfast prepared by hand at Hanaya.

Dinner is traditional Kyoto cuisine prepared by the long-established Kyoto restaurant Itaden and delivered to the inn.

Both breakfast and dinner can be enjoyed slowly in the privacy of your machiya guest room.

Breakfast

A Seasonal Japanese Breakfast, Handmade at Hanaya

Breakfast at Hanaya is prepared by hand, one dish at a time.

Centered around seasonal vegetables, our simple Japanese-style breakfast is made with care to bring out the natural flavors of each ingredient.

Our vegetables and rice are sourced primarily from a greengrocer who works with local farmers who practice organic and reduced-pesticide cultivation.

We also take care in choosing our seasonings. We use additive-free fermented seasonings made using traditional methods, and prepare our own miso and shio-koji using organically grown ingredients.

On a quiet morning in the machiya, take your time and enjoy a homemade breakfast prepared at Hanaya.

Price: ¥1,500 per person (tax included)

Time: 7:30–9:00 a.m. (served in your room)

Please make your reservation by two days before your stay if you would like breakfast.

Dinner

Traditional Kyoto Cuisine from Iden, Served in Your Machiya Room

For dinner, we work with Iden, a long-established Kyoto restaurant.

Enjoy seasonal Kyoto cuisine, prepared with the finest ingredients of each season, in the quiet surroundings of your machiya guest room.

In Kyoto, a tradition of prepared meals delivered to homes and businesses developed around Muromachi-dori and Shinmachi-dori, where kimono merchants and other businesses once flourished. These meals were an important part of the culture of hospitality among Kyoto’s merchants.

That tradition continues today. Enjoying Kyoto cuisine in a traditional machiya is one of the special pleasures of staying at Hanaya.
