Information

A Traditional Kyoto Machiya Inn, Limited to Just Two Guest Parties Per Day

Hanaya is a small traditional Japanese inn in Kyoto, housed in a machiya townhouse built approximately 100 years ago.

Once home to a kimono merchant, this historic townhouse has been carefully passed down and continues to welcome guests today.

Located in Bukkōji Nishinotōin, just a short distance from Shijō Karasuma, Hanaya stands in a historic neighborhood rich in Kyoto’s traditional atmosphere.

During the Gion Matsuri festival, the Tokusa-yama float is erected directly in front of the inn.

We welcome just one guest party on each of the first and second floors, allowing you to enjoy a peaceful and private stay.

The entire inn can also be reserved exclusively for your group by renting both floors together.

CAHLUMN Stay Plan

We are pleased to offer a special stay plan inspired by the world of CAHLUMN, a Japanese lifestyle magazine.

Enjoy a unique Kyoto experience and discover a different side of travel as you spend time in a traditional machiya townhouse.

Guest Rooms

Take Your Time and Experience the Quiet Charm of a Machiya

Our guest rooms are traditional Japanese-style tatami rooms, located across a peaceful inner garden in this historic machiya townhouse.

From both rooms, you can enjoy views of the inner garden and rear garden. Open the traditional sliding doors and feel the gentle breeze flowing through the machiya.

With only two guest parties welcomed each day, we invite you to slow down and enjoy a peaceful, unhurried stay.
